Giant Lampshades in Production!

Here's a look at the hard working GHS crew making magic for Victoria's Secret (international baby!) The super tall lampshade seen below was destined for Dubai! In addition to what you see in the photo, this shade was fitted with custom Swaroski computer programed sparkling LED backed crystals!

Who Framed Thomas Cole?

Once again this year Geoff was asked to create the look and decor of the benefit for Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Referencing a famous Thomas Cole Painting hanging now in the Brooklyn Museum called "The Picnic" Geoff used his signature brush strokes to create the painting's central  figure (believed to be a self-portrait of Thomas Cole) as well a collection of seemingly period frames for party-goers to use as props for photo ops.

Held on a beautiful private estate on the Hudson river, the event is always on or near July 4th, thus the patriotic theme throughout.

The interior of the tent continues the theme in red and whites stripes on the table and a big dramatic bunting across the expanse of the tent.

The evening's finale was marked by a spectacular display of fireworks!

Life's a Beach!

Summer is back and D. Porthault is ready to hit the beach in a new line of beach towels and pillows with a decidedly summer theme. To help create the perfect beach atmosphere, Geoff painted a sunny  beachscape complete with the umbrella and beach chairs and balls!

Smells like Success!

Set in the famed hills of West Hollywood, The London Hotel played host to this year's Aramis Designer Fragrances Sales Conference. Once again Geoff Howell Studio was given the honor of working with the wonderful team at Aramis in designing, producing and installing all the decor for the various product launches and all the fancy food fests!

A swanky welcome dinner on the roof of The London features one long long table with a reflecting pool of water running the length filled with floating candles and orchid blossoms

The after party was decorated in a rich silver and white palette,  added to the pool side cabanas, offering amazing rooftop view as well

Dinner at  the chic Italian eatery Cecconi's on another evening, was decked out with luscious bouquets of hundreds of  red roses on every table, as well as accents of white pillows, candles and silver garden stools.

For a special last night blast, dinner was held at the STK steakhouse. Fuchsia was the tone of the evening implemented in the up lighting of the walls and the vivid color of the orchid display dominating the center of the room. To add a touch of high elegance, Geoff added his own custom candelabras into the mix. The orchids were placed in tall glass cylinders in water to create a magical refractive optic effect while passing by.

A much needed moment of rest in between product launch/decor changes.  Geoff snaps a photo while the crew catches a breath on a sumptuous gold leather sofa in the London Hotel lobby.

More than just smoke and mirrors

For Adele Rootstein's 2012 showroom, Geoff Howell Studio helped to created a 'religious' experience. Although you cannot tell by the photos, walls within the showroom were built to create a cruciform shaped environment. In this theatrical interpretation of a 'rite of passage', Rootstein's own custom mannequins form a precessional towards the 'altar' where mannequins are grouped on various levels within beams of heavenly light. The walls, floor and risers in the center of the room were all covered with a custom dyed silver foil backed cork wallpaper in a shade of deep purple.

Bailey House Door Chandelier

Once again, Bailey House came knocking on the door at Geoff Howell Studio to transform the Lexington Avenue Armory for their annual benefit gala. This year's theme was 'Give me shelter' with the importance of having one's own private door being the deciding factor. Considering the soaring space of the armory, a multicolored mobile of over 150 life-sized paper doors and 200 glittering keys was created, held aloft with hundreds of giant weather balloons. The installation was over a 100 feet high and 70 feet wide. In addition to the center-spectacle, Geoff also designed the layout of the entire event from 400 running feet of orange and white walls, many risers and platforms, all creating a welcoming environment and an ideal background for the auction items and festivities.

D. Porthault Goes Green

D. Porthault' has jumped into Spring early with a tropical air. Showcasing their latest embroidered sheets and exclusive colors of terry towels, Geoff created a simple and lush window design using green bamboo and various tropical leaves against a sleek brilliant green and cool refreshing blue.

This window highlights their hand-silkscreened collection of cotton bedding in bright floral prints.
