I go where Hugo

This just in! Breaking news in New York, Hugo Boss dazzles its investors!! Word on the street is Geoff Howell Studio is behind their fabulous displays!

Seriously, Hugo Boss had a special meeting with investors to keep them updated on company directions. The clubroom in their NY offices was transformed with designs from their corporate headquarters into a large meeting room containing displays of their 7 major divisions. Each display consisted of angled risers, a large shard-like logo panel, placed in front of custom etched lucite panels fitted with electro-luminescence bands.

Note the custom sharply angled coat rack we made!

D. Porthault Ho Ho!

The fall window was so popular that Porthault decided to keep it for the holidays.  To cheer on the the season of good tidings, Luscious gold and glittering garland sparkling with lights was draped around the scene bedecked with the latest gifts galore.

Pool Party!!

In the season of heavy coats and scarves, the Rootstein showroom in New York took a decidedly more tropical outlook this December. Evoking the mood of a black and white photograph, the entire monochromatic showroom is produced shades of grey, black and white. Reminiscent of high fashion photography from the 80's (with a nod back to the 30's), the mannequins, wearing genius costumes custom designed by the artists at Rootstein, frolic in a glamorous poolside environment created by the team at Geoff Howell Studio including diving boards, MC Escher-like stairs going up and down, in and out, all surrounded with gleaming chrome railing and ladders. Even the water is a black and white photographic image.

Here in the front window,  things heat up with palm trees, hammocks and skimpy bathing suits! For our part, we created the perfect white box in which the three silver palm trees, which we also produced, sway in the imaginary warm breeze.

On a particularly sad note the NY director of Rootstein for many years, Michael Steward, recently passed away after an all too short battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed.

Have a Heartland

A new Brewery and Chophouse opened in Times Square this fall and Geoff Howell Studio had the pleasure of making some special installations for the massive new restaurant.

Graham adding finishing touches to a wall we produced featuring a new world of vintage eggbeaters. The large graphic background is an interpretation of a drawing submitted for patent approval in the early 20th century. It is hand-painted on a large sheet metal panel bolted to the wall. The porcelain sockets and vintage style bulbs outline the egg beater shapes.

The eggbeaters are hung with heavy hooks from bent Rebar.

Above the bankettes and continuing the Americana theme is a series of car prints on metal sheets, held in place with extra large nuts and bolts.

Outline up!

Like a frame around a beautiful photograph, Hugo Boss' latest clubroom removes the walls and barriers to the bare essentials of simple elegance. We produced black lacquered frames surrounding custom oak parque platforms. Hanging lanterns in the same steel frame style further illuminate the upcoming summer fashions.

Them Bones

Mr. Bones is getting a celebrity makeover — 13 in fact — and it’s all for good causes.
Kiehl’s iconic mascot, in stores across the world, got the head-to-toe overhauls for the store’s new charity drive.
The Daily News got an exclusive sneak peek of the tarted-up skeletons, which will be unveiled Wednesday night — and on display for the public starting June 2.
Among the stars helping with Mr. Bones’ new looks are funnyman Zach Galifianakis and “Top Chef” queen Padma Lakshmi. Under its charity arm, Kiehl’s Gives, the East Village skin-care brand is donating $200,000 to causes chosen by the famous names.  --NY Daily News

To help with the launch party at Gold Bar of this national campaign, GHS was hired to design and produce the custom made bases to hold the unique skeleton sculptures and in the photo below, install the event, including the black on black graphic in the frames. We were also responsible for the crating and shipping of the skeletons across the US.

Here's a closer look at a few of the actual 'celeb designed skeletons.

Sunglass Hut: The Look of Attraction

As Sunglass Hut introduces a new line of Sunglasses by Georgia May Jagger, GHS was asked to produce and install graphics, props, lightboxes and signage for their 5th avenue store. Sinuous forms in yellow and aqua tie the story of 'Metal meets Plastic' together.

A closer look at the swirling juxtapostion of color!

The gold lining of Armani

Giorgio Armani asked Geoff Howell Studio to produce the props for the Lexington Ave. windows of Bloomingdale's.  Understated simplicity is always the Armani by-word. In this case, it comprised of  a single mannequin in each window, backlit with a heavenly glow, and framed with floor-to-ceiling gold-leafed panels--all resting on a matte black floor.
